The Mahindra ute or Pick up (spelt Pik up)I has made it onto the market now as a alternative to the F series. What can I say its like my 7 year old playing test cricket. However lets not jump to conclusions as Mahindra has been around now for well over 20 years. My memories is that 1 litre engine Suzuki vehicle ute that made its way into the farmers hearts for just a short while in the 1990's. The 4 speed gear box and the lack of power steer gave this vehicle a memorable feel only to fade into oblivion and rust away quietly in the archives of motoring marketing.
This new Pick up is much better than that but I will leave it up to the consumers to judge that for themselves. I am pleased to say that this is a joint venture between the Indian Mahindra and International trucks in the USA. The features are modern including dual airbags. power mirrors, quality sound system including USB port, and the ever popular and Mahindra proud quad cup holders.

Its diesel and not a bad one at that although not a powerhouse. The 2.2 litre in line four will appear in the US model where as in Australia its the 2.5 CRD turbo diesel.
Mahindra for our country readers (they make good tractors) will be the deciding factor on if this truck is anywhere near the mark I will leave it to those hard at work that expect something special in their pick ups to decide, and yes it is Pik up.
